One Year After, Nigerians’ Hope Is Not Renewed, It Only Got Worse – Kalu

It is a painful reality that one year after promises of *Renewed Hope* by the Tinubu-led Administration, Nigerians are still groaning in pains of hunger, lack, poverty and consistently skyrocketing inflation that has killed the economy and .made life miserable for the citizens without any sign of tangible actionable plan to pull the people out of the dungeons.

The call I get from Nigeria and the pressure of managing people’s pain to give them hope of life after this time is overwhelming. Nigerians as so impoverished that they’re too disorganized, disenchanted and disconnected from whatever is the problem with Nigeria. They are so engulfed with concerns of daily survival that they are too weak to protest any longer.

One begins to wonder if President Tinubu truly had any plans for Nigerians before snatching power by all means. Why is it taking them so long to move away from 2023 campaign promises to providing administration to improve the lot of Nigerians by providing improved life for them?  It is important that this present government should become sensitive and cut down their frivolous expenses on luxury and channel more resources to rescuing the people from hunger and starvation.

This administration has shown insensitivity in all ramifications by focusing on spending huge money improving their luxury at a time other African leaders are cutting down their expenses to save their economy. To them, it is all about gathering more wealth to strengthen their hold on power so that even if they lose popularity and relevance, they can always bulldoze their way in with accumulated wealth, even if all the people will die, the remaining few will still give legitimacy to their illigality when they received peanut and vote.

I am calling on President Tinubu and his handlers to grow conscience and save Nigeria from possible collapse. They should understand that they took power to improve the lot of the people and not their own and their political allies. Nigerians has been stretched thin by hunger and starvation. We must emulate other African leaders who are thinking about their people first.
